Autobiographical sketch by a San Diego merchant who arrived in California in 1869. Also contains information about San Diego's first merchant, Joseph Nash, and the California Southern Railroad. Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area.
